Sync Biosystems was founded in 2022 with the aim to bring Microphysiological Systems to real-world applications. We strongly believe that with high tech engineering we can improve current in vitro assays and make drug testing and disease modelling easier and more reliable. We create a bridge between in vitro biology, microfluidics and mechatronics by introducing precise control, (pharma)kinetics, and automation to existing assays without increasing the complexity of cell culture protocols.

What are you going to do?
We are an enthusiastic, skilled, and committed team in which everyone can make a decisive contribution. We are part of the Demcon group and work together closely with their engineering teams. Located at the Leiden Bio Science Park, we are surrounded by over 150 big and small Life Science & Health companies
The main interest of the team is to perform services and develop applications using our microfluidic technology in combination with different 2D/3D cell culture (disease) models. As a system engineer you will be designing, implementing and testing mechatronic and fluidic (sub-) systems intended for cell culture experiments. In the lab, you will also provide operational support to cell biologists working with the system. Strong analytical capabilities combined with an autonomous mindset and the ability to offer pragmatic solutions are essential. You will be working side-by-side with cell culture scientists, giving you the opportunity to step outside of your engineering comfort zone.
What do you bring to the table?
• Master’s degree in engineering or life sciences. With 0-3 years of experience in systems or process engineering, involving software and hardware implementations for life science products
• Proven biotech application knowledge
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in and success with influencing and working through others to achieve results within in a complex matrix organization
